Dodger Game

$75 tickets do make a difference at Dodger Stadium. The view was amazing. AND on top of the view, the Dodgers played Seattle...and Adrian Beltre played! In between innings, during the "Kiss Me" camera segment, an Asian guy got on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend. The entire stadium was on their feet, clapping and cheering, and when she nodded and kissed him we all knew she had said yes. It was gorgeous. Good luck to the happy couple!

See you in a week! Off to Mexico tomorrow!

Random Adventure

Interesting titles you say? Well today was random yet adventurous. I took Angel and 2 friends to watch Transformers at 9:30am for the 10:40am show and we were there until 1:30pm. Evey and I were wandering, doing nothing- yet very entertained - at Marshall's, Target, Barnes & Noble, and AMC. I think Evey may have a future in photography, she's pretty good! I'm excited about the books I bought today, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Water for Elephants, and Eat This, Not That, can't wait to read them. At Target I got an auxiliary cable for my car - now I just need another iPod. At Barnes & Noble we browsed and read. At AMC we had a mini photoshoot waiting for the boys. We went home to shower, eat and wait for the guys and took off once again to the theaters to watch the movie ourselves :)

I'm glad I get to see Jonathan often; I can definitely get used to this.

P.S. I'm scared about my heart surgery, looks like we're pushing it up several months.

Financials

After reading CNNMoney Money 101 and a handful of blogs including Free From Broke I decided it's time to start financial checklist.

1. Priorities. Needs versus Wants. It's hard for young people to control their compulsive shopping at times when they see something they like, but using the advice Robert Kiyosaki gave on an Oprah show to not buy it when you see it, but to go back in two weeks and if you still want it - buy it really works.

2. Save. "Out of sight, out of mind." A lot of talk of these online banks and online saving accounts, something to look into further. Meanwhile any savings account will do. Just save!

- Save to buy a home
- Save for wedding
- Save for retirement
- Save for grad school

3. Employer. What does my employer have to offer me? Look into health insurance plans to be covered and not be cheated for over-expensive medical bills. Look into 401 (k) s CNN's lesson 23 on 401 (k) s is really handy.

4. USE THE INTERNET. Need anything? Shop around and compare prices using the internet to save time and money.

5. Set goals. Be conscious of your incoming money, bills, checking accounts, savings, and future investments. Avoid debt, but if unavoidable pay attention to interest rates. Plan ahead, create self budgets and time lines.

I can't wait 'til I start working!

Karla and Tony's Wedding Weekend

Congratulations Karla and Tony, Mrs and Mr Avila!!!
This weekend was so fun! Where to even begin. From the moment I flew in it was all about the wedding!!! I flew in Wednesday night and that night I went straight to work catching up on last minute changes, making boutonnieres, helping with songs, cutting food tickets for rehearsal dinner and other things that I don't even remember right now.

On Thursday we worked on the poem, more songs, put things together, went to Sonoma and Napa. Wine tasting was sooooo fun! It was gorgeous! We got the welcome speech done, worked on the slideshow, printed most of the material, met the rest of the bridal party that I had yet not met, the dancers worked on their performances and so much more other stuff.

Friday was a lot more crazy, woke up and edited songs, ironed clothes, packed for the wedding, confirmed vendors, went to breakfast to go over a run-through of the night and Saturday, got a manicure and pedicure (Thank you Karla), ran to pack the car, hurried and got ready and rushed to the church. Everyone was at the church already, we were the last ones - miracle. Took notes at the rehearsal, realized we needed coins and the unity candle and I improvised and managed to get a hold of both by Saturday. Went to dinner and made a huge mistake which made me feel horrible but thank goodness things got more or less resolved.

SATURDAY: was crazier. Woke up and showered, got dressed, had some breakfast and ran to go to the flower mart in San Francisco to buy flowers for 15 pitchers, the parent table, Karla's bouquet, and Terrie and Amanda's bouquets. We got amazing deals we got all that for $190!!! 9 bouquets of 25 roses for $11 ea., 6 bouquets of sunflowers for $3 ea., 2 bouquets of piones, plus the orange flowers, and 6 bouquets of tulips for $7 ea. Unbelievable. It was 5 people working on flowers at the hall. All asking me what to do, how to do it, where to put things, and I loved it! Having a hard working crew was definitely a highlight. Going up and down to get things from Karla's room to Tony was a little funny but nonetheless exciting! The trolley came and picked everyone up, I ran through a small role call to make sure no one was left behind :p
Arriving at the church everyone looked amazing, Karla arrived to the church like 15 minutes before 3pm. We rushed Tony and Alex into the church, got all the guests seating, and lined the bridal party up in order.
The ceremony was perfect! Short, simple, but really romantic, it made me want to get married! Karla looked impeccable, gorgeous, stunning!!! The trolley ride to and from Embarcadero where the pictures were taken was a blast! Very San Fran! Arriving at the Marines Memorial again, I rushed into the reception hall to make sure set up had been done correctly and it was AMAZING, just as planned! Working with the Dj and the Banquets Coordinator was extremely easy, everyone knew what to do, when to do it, and how!

Thank you so much for such a fun weekend!

Graduation Party = FUN

My graduation party was yesterday and it was amazing! I was able to see relatives I haven't seen in years! It was a small intimate gathering with mostly relatives I used to see on a regular basis when I came home, my neighbors, and a handful of relatives I hadn't seen in almost 10 years.
Everyone worked really hard to make it happen! Yesterday also served as a bit of a reality check... people who I thought were going to show up didn't... and since my wedding guest list is on the long side now I know who I'm going to cut first....

Thank you everyone for coming, for all your love and support. For the rides, the meals, the favors, the medicines, your kindness and generosity. My success in middle school, high school, and college has been thanks to all of you. A million thank you's from the bottom of my heart!

Thank you Gloria and Maria for the lollipops. Thank you Ramon, Don Filemon and Tio Javier for chairs and tables. Thank you Cuca and Chuy for the salad, bringing the bionico, and helping us cut meat. Thank you Evey and Angel for helping me set up. Thank you baby for helping me punk the kids, cut meat, and being the handy man around. Thank you mom and dad for the party, the food, the decorations, and everything in between :)
